As the Application and Research Centre for Combating Addiction, we held a Seminar on Anti-Addiction Studies on 22 October 2024 at Gelibolu Piri Reis Vocational School together with Çanakkale Provincial Police Department.

In the seminar, our Centre Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Mutlu made a presentation about the dangers of tobacco and tobacco products and our Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Sibel Oymak made a presentation about the structure of addiction and its effects on our health and daily life. Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Kemal Akbulut, a member of the Board of Directors of the Centre and also the advisor of the Young Green Crescent Club at our University, talked about the club activities in this field and the activities that our young people in our school can benefit from and take part in as an organiser.

In the seminar, Police Officers Hakan Taşdemir and Murat Cura from the Narcotics Branch of Çanakkale Provincial Police Directorate made an informative presentation titled ‘Prevention of Substance and Drug Addiction and Raising Awareness’ within the scope of the Narco Youth Project. In the presentation, the measures taken by our state on this issue and the responsibilities that our young people should take individually and the issues that they should pay attention to were shared.

We would like to thank all our lectures, especially Assoc. Prof. Abdulkerim Diktaş, Director of Gelibolu Piri Reis Vocational School, for inviting us to our Application and Research Centre for Combating Addiction and creating the opportunity for us to come together with our students.
