History

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Center for Addiction Prevention and Research commenced its activities with the decree published in the Official Gazette dated 04/11/2020 and numbered 31294.

Mission & Vision

Mission: To protect public health against addictions such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling, which pose a threat and danger to human and public health, and to raise awareness based on scientific data.

Vision: To carry out national and international scientific projects in collaboration with relevant university departments, public institutions and organizations, the private sector, and civil society organizations; to provide technical support for the implementation of projects; increase interest and knowledge in scientific circles and the public regarding substance use and substance addiction, and to be a leading center in determining national and international strategic plans, with national and international competitiveness in the field of addiction.

Purpose & Goals

The center's goals are to protect individual and public health and take measures against threats and dangers posed by electronic gambling, alcohol, tobacco, and substance addictions, which have been increasing in recent years and pose a threat and danger to human and public health, as well as to counter the negative perception management against the values of Turkish society.

(2) The Center will collaborate with relevant university departments, public institutions and organizations, the private sector, and civil society organizations to determine international and national policies, establish strategies, and develop action plans.

a) To carry out projects based on a multidisciplinary approach at the national and international levels.

b) To provide technical support for the implementation of budgeted projects.

c) Support the training of successful scientists and academics in relevant scientific fields,

ç) Increase interest and knowledge in scientific circles and the public regarding the fight against substance use and substance dependence,

d) Become a center with national and international competitiveness in the field of addiction,

e) Prevent the development of addiction in society.
